Our homepage focuses on Adaptive Practices. Adaptive Practices link thinking, feeling and action effectively to adapt and respond.
It takes time to shift an organisation’s mindset; and it is not evenly paced. It takes time because we are in a world of human cultivation and not human engineering. We are developing new practice rather than relying on best practice.
Environmental savvy – the ability to scan, anticipate and look for changes in the environment, comprehend emerging internal and external conditions and understand the implication of actions – and collaboration are critical elements.

Our learning space focuses on shared values and collective ability to achieve success as the underlying and stabilising force that creates order. It is a base from which people feel safe to experiment, take risks, take responsibility for choices and adapt thinking and behaviour.
From this social movements are created along with self-initiating and perpetuating systems.

Primed created this animation for the University of Newcastle to support the launch of their new Code Of Conduct. The purpose was to connect staff and students with the intent and meaning of the Code, engage understanding of the values, and have some fun! We also composed a mini cantata on the values for the fabulous University Choir.
We need a new societal narrative….We are living in an age of broken narratives, a cultural story of capital, bureaucratic government and attempts to control the environment. We need a new story that comes from the people, a new cultural narrative that begins a social movement and becomes the tipping point for social change:
What may Australia yet become?
Stories need beginnings - using the values survey results, Josephine Emery has created a setting – Imagine a dying country town - A country town as a story world. Each family a different portal into universes of possibilities. The stories driven by audiences responding from their own story worlds.

The Big Conversation is an initiative of the Emerging Leaders for Social Change, a cross sectoral network that is seeking to create change in Australia through engagement, capacity building and collaboration www.bigconversation.org.au
The Big Conversation was born out of a discussion of what was missing from the debate in Australia in regard to addressing the impact of the global financial crisis. It was felt that regulatory reform and stimulus packages needed to be underpinned by a broad debate on values in Australia, what they are, have they changed and what do Australians want them to be. They approached the Values Centre (www.valuescentre.com) as the globally recognised implementers of the values tools for both organisations and more recently, nations. They formed a partnership that has resulted in the first Australian values survey to be undertaken.

Have we lost sight of the concept of a civil society? Not a phrase or reference I have heard for a while....Headline-grabbing problems like global warming and extreme poverty garner most of philanthropy’s money and energy, while less visible but no less important problems like the decline of the news media – one of the foundations of civil society – are often ignored. Without a healthy civil society however, it becomes difficult if not impossible to solve other, more readily apparent problems. A fascinating article from Stanford’s Social Innovation Review.
Strategies often go awry because orgainsational leaders are not fully aware of the values held by their members. No matter how brilliant the analysis that underlies a strategy, it is the people who must understand and implement it. That only happens when the strategy fits their values. Values matter. Ethical decisions and actions are based on values. Values affect leaders and followers as they pursue their mission. Spiral dynamics is a psychosocial theory that provides a framework for tracking the evolution of worldviews and lays out a pattern of human diversity and trajectory for change.
